Check out these common symptoms that will let you know if your appliances may need repair.

Let’s go over several tips that may help you recognize some warning signs that your appliances may need to be repaired, even when it may seem they are functioning correctly. This could be something very subtle or intermittent that comes and goes over time. You definitely want to get these little warning signs checked out by an appliance repair technician before the appliance totally stopped working.

Easy Fix

The first thing that we always mention when a new customer calls in and says their appliance will not turn on all of a sudden is to do some simple troubleshooting. We always want to make sure that your appliance is correctly plugged in all the way and that your circuit breaker has not flipped. When dealing with certain appliances such as a dryer we want to make sure that the filter or vent is not clogged either. If the appliance will still not turn on then we need to get an appliance repair technician to your home to figure out what’s going on.

Electrical Issues

If your appliance is experiencing power surges when using such as flickering lights or even a small spark when being plugged in, then we would need to determine if the appliance is at fault or if this is an electrical issue that you would need an electrician to fix. If you all of a sudden get a very high utility bill one month, don’t forget to check your home appliances for they could be to blame. If any of your appliances are in need of repair they may struggle to work and use more energy. By putting off these repairs you may be forking over extra money for your monthly utility bills, so these warning signs need to be taken care of as soon as possible.

Weird Sounds

We all know appliances make noise when they are running but new noises like buzzing or even a weird clanking sound could mean that one of the internal parts is starting to malfunction and will require repair or replacement soon. Some appliance malfunctions are very gradual, such as your dryer taking longer and longer to dry clothes or your refrigerator not quite cooling as well as you remember it doing so. Pay careful attention to the functioning of your household appliances and catch the symptoms in order to call an appliance repair technician out before the unit totally breaks down on you.

Leaking Water

The last symptom that I want to mention is leaking water. You may notice that your washer has leaked a few drops of water on the floor and you may want to check your door seal to see if there are any cracks because it may need replacement or it may be something else. You may notice your refrigerator has a little puddle in the bottom drawer and this may mean that the thermostat is malfunctioning and this would need to be looked at as soon as possible to prevent your food from being spoiled.
